A mixture of stone clay and a microwave energy-absorbing igneous rock or a mineral component thereof is fired below a specific temperature. A stone material with improved heat absorbing and storage properties comprises a mixture of stone clay (preferably so-called Hoganas clay), at least one microwave energy-absorbing igneous rock (preferably diabase or labradorite) and/or at least one mineral component of a microwave energy-absorbing igneous rock (preferably labrador). The mixture has a particle size not exceeding ca. 0.25 mm. An Independent claim is also included for a method of making the stone material by firing the above mixture and optionally forming a glass, at a temperature not exceeding 1200 (ca. 1180)degreesC.
