METHOD FOR DECIDING OPTICAL DISK SIZE - THE METHOD COMPRISES STEPS OF MOVING OPTICAL PICKUP TO SPECIFIC RECORDING POSITION, CONFIRMING WHETHER WOBBLE SIGNAL IS NORMALLY DETECTED, AND DECIDING OPTICAL DISK SIZE
PURPOSE: A method for deciding an optical disk size is provided to move an optical pickup to a specific recording position if decided optical disk sizes are not identical, and to confirm whether a wobble signal is normally detected, then to finally decide the optical disk sizes, thereby exactly deciding the optical disk sizes. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer rotates a spindle motor(S10), and first decides the size of an optical disk(S11). The microcomputer second decides the size of another optical disk(S12). If the decided sizes of the two optical disks are not identical, the microcomputer moves an optical pickup to a specific recording position(S15), and confirms whether a wobble signal is normally detected(S16). If so, the microcomputer finally decides that the size of the optical disk is 12cm in diameter(S17), and decides whether to update downloaded information(S18). If so, the microcomputer corrects the first bit of a minute unit to '1' from '0'(S19), and sets a high recording speed, and performs a data recording process(S20).
