Test device for simulating gas forces in a combustion engine comprises a cylinder type container (2) with a cylinder head type element (3) mounted on it. Pressurized gas is let into the container via a valve (12) and emitted via an outlet valve (7) in the cylinder head. A displaceable piston (10) can be moved within the container and fixed in different positions so set a chosen experimental volume, which is defined by it, the cylindrical container and the cylinder head type element.
