The invention relates to a cover for large-volume refuse containers, particularly for front discharge system containers. The cover is comprised of a number of cover parts, which are joined to one another in an articulated manner, whereby the rear cover part is pivotally mounted on the refuse container by means of hinges, and the pivotal range is limited by a catching device. The aim of the invention is to ensure the storage of refuse or valuable materials both when placing them into the large refuse container as well as when emptying the same, and to eliminate the drawbacks associated with the prior art. To this end, the invention provides that the rear part of the cover fastened to the hinges comprises, starting from the hinge area, an overlapping width of the cover that at least overlaps the container frame and terminates outside of the overlapping in sides, which are each perpendicular to the cover, in the form of an enclosure, and said sides extend up to the vicinity of an articulated connection to the front cover parts. Particularly during a lifting and tipping of a cover of the aforementioned type on a front discharge system container, the advantageous results can be recognized due to the fact that, in the emptying position, the refuse or valuable material can no longer get beyond control but falls into the refuse collection vehicle while being confined between both sides.
