Surface-relief transmission diffraction grating has modulation height, (h), an average step width p and an average interval (c) between the grating lines. The grating (1) transmits the S and P polarization components centered on a wavelength lambda, such that the following inequalities are fulfilled: 1 less than hdividep at most 5 and 0.7 at most lambdadividep at most 1.3. The invention also relates to a corresponding dispersion device, spectroscopic device and monochromator with an inventive diffraction grating.
