PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an air bubble monitoring medication assembly for monitoring an air bubble entrained in a liquid administered to a patient by a drug infusion subassembly, a medical care system, and a method.;SOLUTION: The air bubble monitoring medication assembly 10 is equipped with the drug infusion subassembly 12 having a tube 18 for administering the liquid 20 to the patient 22, a bubble size measuring device 14 which detects the air bubbles 24 entrained in the liquid 20 in this tube 18 and determines the volume of the air bubbles 24, and an analyzer 16. The analyzer 16 records the time when the air bubble is detected and the volume of the air bubbles 24, calculates a running sum of the air volume of all air bubbles 24 detected over a time interval, compares the running sum with a preset limit, and outputs when the running sum exceeds the preset limit. The medical care system 26 additionally includes a drug infusion controller assembly 28 which determines a delivery schedule for administering the liquid 20 and administers the liquid 20 in accordance with the determined delivery schedule.
