PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive discrimination medium for judging a true/false one, which has high durability. PSOLUTION: In the discrimination medium 103 constituted by laminating two thin films 101 and 102 having refractive index anisotropy, the refractive index nSBAX/SBand the refractive index nSBBX/SBin a prescribed 1st direction are made to coincide with each other, and the refractive index nSBAY/SBand the refractive index nSBBY/SBin a 2nd direction orthogonal to the 1st direction are made to differ from each other. When the discrimination medium 103 is irradiated with linear polarized light aligning with the 1st direction, the irradiating light is transmitted through the discrimination medium 103, on the other hand, when the medium 103 is irradiated with linear polarized light aligning with the 2nd direction, the irradiating light is reflected by an interface between the thin films 101 and 102.
