Use of peptides CTTHWGFTLC, CLPGHWGFPSC and STTHWGFTLS in enhancing targeting and uptake of liposome containing chemotherapeutic agents to tumor cells to treat cancer and its use in diagnostics

Peptide compounds comprising the structure selected from peptides having the cyclic motif C(X)yHWGFXXC and peptides having the linear motif S(X)yHWGFXXS, wherein X is any amino acid residue and y is an integer of 2 or 3, can be used in the manufacture of medicaments and liposomes for improving targeting and enhancing uptake of liposomes to tumors cells. Also described are compositions and diagnostic and imaging test kits comprising a liposome, the peptide compound and a detectable label. Preferably the liposomes are carrying a chemotherapeutic agent.
