PURPOSE: An automatic wood cutter and a method for driving the automatic wood cutter are provided to automatically perform massive wood cutting work in a short time by serially feeding wood and to improve the work environment by precipitating saw dust and fine dust. CONSTITUTION: An automatic wood cutter comprises conveyors(200,300) feeding wood and discharging cut wood, a clamping unit(400) clamping the wood fed by the conveyors in a cutting position, a cutting unit(500) automatically cutting the wood clamped by the clamping unit, and a precipitating unit(600) precipitating the saw dust and fine dust generated in wood cutting. The conveyors include first and second motors generating driving force needed for the operation of the conveyors. The cutting unit includes a third motor and a fourth motor generating driving force needed for the rotation of a cutting frame. The cutting frame includes a fourth motor generating driving force needed for the rotation of a chain saw blade.
