METHOD AND A SYSTEM FOR BALANCING A LOAD OF SWITCH MODULES IN A SERVER SYSTEM, AND A COMPUTER SYSTEM USING THE METHOD AND THE SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY CONCERNED IN ASSIGNING ONE SWITCH MODULE TO EACH SERVER, AND DYNAMICALLY CONTROLLING THE LOAD
METHOD AND A SYSTEM FOR BALANCING A LOAD OF SWITCH MODULES IN A SERVER SYSTEM, AND A COMPUTER SYSTEM USING THE METHOD AND THE SYSTEM, ESPECIALLY CONCERNED IN ASSIGNING ONE SWITCH MODULE TO EACH SERVER, AND DYNAMICALLY CONTROLLING THE LOAD
PURPOSE: A method and a system for balancing a load of switch modules in a server system, and a computer system using the method and the system are provided to balance a load of plural switch modules, while assigning one switch module to each server, and to dynamically control the load, depending on whether the switch module is used, thereby effectively predicting a network access. CONSTITUTION: Power is applied to a management module(602). The management module maintains all blades in powered off state(604). A load balancing mechanism checks a nonvolatile memory space of the first blade, and determines whether the space has a switch assignment(608). If not, the load balancing mechanism accesses a switch assign table(610), and compares the number of blades assigned to each ESM(Ethernet Switch Module)(612). If the number of the blades assigned to the first ESM is bigger than the number of the blades assigned to the second ESM, the load balancing mechanism assigns the second ESM to the first blade while storing the assignment in the space of the first blade(616).
