PURPOSE: A method and a device for determining an active channelization code of a downlink in a TD-CDMA mobile communication system are provided to determine channelization codes having code power values which exceed a setup value as active channelization codes, thereby searching channelization codes used by other user terminals without another signaling function, consequently the performance of a joint detection is improved. CONSTITUTION: A joint detector(203) detects code channel data corresponding to channelization codes of a channelization code combination from receiving signals. An RSCP(Received Signal Code Power) measurer(204) measures code power values of the code channel data. A determiner(206) sets a channelization code combination in the joint detector(203), compares the code power values with a predetermined setup value, and determines channelization codes having the code power values which exceed the predetermined setup value as active channelization codes.
