The modulator has a phase controlled loop (2) receiving a phase modulated signal and a reference signal and outputting a high frequency derived from the frequencies of the reference and phase modulated signals. A regulated power source (3) outputs a current based on an amplitude modulated signal. An amplifier (4) amplifies the high frequency signal, where output of the amplifier is connected with an output of the power source. An independent claim is also included for a method for modulating signals.
