The method involves assigning a separate pump-injector-unit to each cylinder. Parameters of an electrical start of fuel delivery (FB), engine speed, fuel temperature, fuel pressure, oil temperature, cylinder pressure during the start of fuel delivery, and electrical fuel delivery period (FD) in the unit as wells the parameter of the cylinder are determined. The parameters are consecutively assigned respectively to a separate exponent. The parameter provided with the exponents as a respective absolute value, and an additional constant are multiplicatively associated with each other.
