PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of accurately acquiring internal structural information of a structure using horizontal muon of high permeability though week in intensity.;SOLUTION: A position sensitive detecting means 1 is provided with first and second forward position sensitive detector complexes 2 and 3, a metal member 4 such as an iron member, and a backward position sensitive detector complex 5. Of the muons, using horizontal muons that shower down in the ground in a range of zenith angel 50-90°, pass through the measuring object of the structure, and arrive at the first forward position sensitive detector complex 2, a path in the measuring object through which the horizontal muons pass is specified. Of the forward horizontal muons having passed through the metal member 4 and arrived at the backward position sensitive detector complex 5, only the front horizontal muons of low energy is collected as data. After measuring the intensity of the backward horizontal muons, the internal structural information of the structure is acquired based on the ratio between the intensity of the front horizontal muons of low energy and that of the backward horizontal muons.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
