PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the strength deterioration and the breaking loss of a roller being used at a high-temperature region and to achieve a stable operation by constituting the roller in a burning zone by oxide ceramics and maintaining an oxygen concentration in the burning atmosphere of the burning zone at a specific value or larger. ;SOLUTION: A roller hearth kiln has a burning zone at the temperature of 1400°C or higher. In the roller hearth kiln, a roller 3 is provided between an inlet 1 and an outlet 2 at both sides, and a carrier path 4 being burned while a body W to be burned moves from the inlet 1 to the outlet 2 is formed on the roller 3. The roller of the roller hearth kiln is made of oxide ceramics, and especially the roller is preferably made of alumina ceramics or mullite ceramics, or ceramics consisting of the mixture of alumina and mullite. Also, the particle growth magnification of the oxide ceramics is preferably equal or less than 3.5 times.
