The device has winding units (6) curved in an area of an end winding (4) in such a manner that the end winding has the form of a hollow cone arranged coaxial to a longitudinal center axis of a stator (1) and expanding from an assigned stator end (3). An outer ring (9) is radially supported at the end winding in an installation condition over a supporting body (10). The device is oscillation-moderately decoupled from the attached stator end in relation to torsional vibrations in the installation condition. An independent claim is also included for a method of retrofitting a stator of an electrical machine.
