The system for indicating the degree of suction of a suction pad (21), e.g. for bathroom fittings, comprises a connector (31) which fits on a pedestal and has a probe (32) which fits against the wall when the suction pad is securely fixed. The connector is linked to a sleeve with a green (332) and a red (333) section by a spiral spring (34). As the suction is reduced the probe leaves the wall and the spring turns the sleeve to display the red warning section through a gap (111) in a cover (11).
