PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quantitatively measuring a pachytene stage chromosome chromomere and a method for preparing a high-accuracy chromosome idiogram from the result of the measurement.;SOLUTION: This method for quantitatively measuring the morphological features of pachytene stage chromosome chromomere in animals and plants, includes: (1) a process for extracting a chromosome area as an index image from a dyed image; (2) a process for recording a boundary line of the chromomere from the index image by using pseudo color processing; (3) a process for marking the chromomere in the boundary line based on the concentration value of the chromomere; (4) a process for repeating the process (3) till the completion of marking for the whole area of the chromosome; (5) a process for drawing a line along the major axis line of the chromomere by using pseudo color processing; (6) a process for measuring concentration profiles on the line obtained in the process (5); and (7) a process for averaging the measured concentration profiles by chromomere to obtain an average profile.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
