[PROBLEMS] To provide a method of increasing a brain-derived neurotrophic factor, whereby the brain-derived neurotrophic factor can be continuously increased in a living body over a long period of time, and an apparatus for increasing a brain-derived neurotrophic factor. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] An apparatus (10) for increasing a brain-derived neurotrophic factor comprising: a voltage forming unit (14) for forming an alternate current voltage having a specific voltage level; a conducting unit (16) for applying the alternate current voltage formed by the voltage forming unit (14) to a living body to thereby increase a brain-derived neurotrophic factor in the living body; and a voltage measuring unit (18) for measuring the effective voltage level of the alternate current voltage applied in practice to the living body by the conducting unit (16).
