METHOD FOR IMPROVING ACCURACY OF AUDIO DATA SEEKING USING XING HEADER

A method for improving accuracy of audio data seek using Xing header is provided to receive a seek pointer from a seek pointer reading part and to find position information corresponding to the seek pointer so as to expand the position information stored in a TOC(Table Of Contents) table, thereby seeking the data position accurately. A method for improving accuracy of audio data seek using Xing header comprises: receiving a seek pointer indicating a reproduction point of audio data; using a high bit field(220), which is added by the expansion of position information stored in a TOC table of Xing header, to detect high bits of the position information corresponding to the seek pointer; using a TOC table field(250) storing 8 low bits of the expanded position information to detect low bits of the position information corresponding to the seek pointer; and combining the detected high and low bits to generate position information corresponding to the seek pointer.
