A system for determining and predicting rock failure using an acoustic emission method is provided to improve the accuracy of detection and prediction by referencing various parameters. A system for determining and predicting rock failure using an acoustic emission method comprises plural data collecting devices(200,210) and a central computer(400). The central computer includes a rock failure detecting and predicting table(420), a grade calculating module(432), a count calculating module(434), an energy calculating module(436), an improved b-value calculating module(438), and a detecting/predicting module(430). The rock failure detecting and predicting table stores data obtained by analyzing an acoustic wave signal according to grade, ring down count, energy, and improved b-value parameter. The grade calculating module calculates the grade by analyzing the acoustic wave signal. The count calculating module calculates the ring down count by analyzing the acoustic wave signal. The energy calculating module calculates the energy by analyzing the acoustic wave signal. The improve b-value calculating module calculates the improved b-value by analyzing the acoustic wave signal. The detecting/predicting module detects and predicts the degree of rock failure by applying each of data calculated from each of the calculating modules to the detecting/predicting table.
