An apparatus and a method for simultaneously updating firmware for a plurality of control modules on dual-port ethernet are provided to minimize a firmware installation time in mass production and a system down time during which the control of control modules are stopped when firmware is updated. An apparatus for simultaneously updating firmware for a plurality of control modules on a dual-port ethernet includes an input unit(11) for receiving firmware from an external apparatus, a firmware storage unit(13) for storing the firmware, a firmware version information storage unit(14) for storing version information of firmware to be updated, a CPU(Central Processing Unit)(12) and a transceiver(16). The CPU is installed in one of the control modules, which has the firmware to be updated, receives identification information and firmware version information from each of the control modules, compares the received firmware version information with the version information stored in the firmware version information storage unit to determine control modules which require update and simultaneously transmits the firmware to be updated and identification information to the determined control modules. The transceiver provides the identification information and firmware version information to the CPU and transmits the identification information of the determined control modules and the firmware to be updated to the corresponding control modules.
