Passenger compartment for e.g. passenger car, has cross beam increasing transverse rigidity of compartment during lateral collision stress, where area of beam is bent at right angle and reinforced against non bent area by reinforcement unit
The passenger compartment (1) has a b-column on each longitudinal side of a body, which opens out into a down-lying sill board (2). A tubular cross beam (4) is provided for increasing transverse rigidity of the passenger compartment in a vehicle transverse direction during lateral collision stress. The tubular cross beam has an area (6) which is bent at right angle. The bent area is reinforced against an adjacent, non bent area (7) of the cross beam by a reinforcement unit (8), where an axis (9) of the cross beam runs in a level of the reinforcement unit or parallel to the reinforcement unit.
