The method involves grouping system information of a mobile radio cell into multiple information blocks e.g. system and master information blocks. The information required for a mobile radio subscriber unit are grouped to verify whether the unit has access to the cell. An information-message is formed from the blocks. The information message is conveyed from a unit of network layer e.g. radio resource control layer, to a unit of a data securing layer e.g. radio link control layer. The message is transmitted by the unit of the data securing layer using a unit of a physical layer. An independent claim is also included for a mobile radio subscriber unit comprising a determining device.
