The method involves applying an adaptation algorithm (7) parameterized by an adaptation parameter set to an image (B), where the algorithm is displayed depending on a characteristic set of a screen (3a-3c) i.e. liquid crystal screen, on which the image is displayed and corresponding characteristic set of another screen, at which the image is operated, is parameterized. Brightness, contrast and/or resolution change is performed by the algorithm in the image, where the characteristic set for each screen includes characteristics of screen resolution. An independent claim is also included for a device with a computer system formed for the processing and display of a digital image.
