The system has a trim system locator locating the system with respect to a substrate via a substrate locator e.g. heat stake. A trim feature e.g. impact bracket, is connected with the trim system locator and includes a trim feature locator. The trim feature moves with respect to the trim system locator and a feature receiving portion to position the trim feature locator with respect to the feature receiving locator, after the trim system locator is assembled with the substrate. A variable length runner is connected with the trim system locator and the trim feature.
