The installation has an exchanging system (12) including heat exchanging zones (Z1, Z2) respectively for cooling and heating a cycle fluid, where the zone (Z2) corresponds to an evaporator (4) e.g. finned tube heat exchanger. A pumping unit of a cold source (A) circulates an exterior fluid e.g. water, in the system along a determined direction (S) such that the exterior fluid passes via the zone (Z1) for being cooled and via the zone (Z2) for being heated at the level of the evaporator. An independent claim is also included for a method of optimizing yield of a heat pump installation.
