In the present invention, there is disclosed the use of a parathyroid hormone containing amino acid sequence 1 - 34 of human parathyroid hormone for preparing medicaments to reduce risk of vertebral or non-vertebral bone fracture in human and risk of osteoporosis, when parathyroid hormone is administered to the subject without concurrent administering of anti-resorption agent different than vitamin D or calcium, in daily dosage from 20 micrograms.
