The present invention relates to the identification of IgA? as a ligand for HAVCR1/TIM1, the receptor for Hepatitis A Virus. The invention provides compositions for inhibiting or promoting this interaction, and methods for influencing immunologic responses to antigens by administration of compounds that affect binding of IgA? to HAVCR1/TIM1.
