The method involves determining a total organic carbon content from calibration curves available for respective pH value and conductivity of a pure water system based on measured changes of the pH value and conductivity. The conductivity and the total organic carbon content of the pure water system are linearly extrapolated for the PH value for non-calibration available between adjacent calibration points, where the conductivity in the pure water system does not exceed microsiemens per centimeter.
