Preparing composite material comprising a porous polymeric material in which clay nanoparticles are dispersed, comprises: (a) mixing two compositions comprising first composition containing polymerizable fluid having 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), and second composition containing silver salts; and (b) irradiation of the mixture by a radiation of wave-length capable of causing polymerization of the fluid and formation of silver nanoparticles. Independent claims are included for: (1) the composite material obtained by the process, comprising porous polymer matrix-based monomers including HEMA (50 wt.%), and silver nanoparticles distributed in the polymer matrix; and (2) the composition in two parts for extemporaneously preparing the material.
