PURPOSE: A multiframe-based motion estimation method and an apparatus thereof are provided to accurately estimate motion in an image which is repeated in one frame and has time symmetry by expanding a bidirectional motion estimation algorithm to at least next two frames.;CONSTITUTION: A first operation unit(101) calculates absolute difference between corresponding blocks of two continued frames. In addition, the first operation unit calculates MSBAD(Modified Sum of Bilateral Absolute Difference). A second operation unit(102) calculates the sum of MSBAD results, and selects a minimum value from an SR(Search Range). A third operation unit(103) determines the minimum value as an MV(Motion Vector), and generates interpolation frame data between an n-1th frame and an nth frame.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2011
