PURPOSE: A photovoltaic power generation control system and a method for estimating maximum power using the same are provided to automatically calculate an MPP(Maximum Power Point) according to solar irradiance by using an adaptive purge model. CONSTITUTION: A solar array(100) outputs a DC signal to convert sunlight into electric energy. An MPP estimator(400) includes a purge model unit(420), an MPP calculator(430), and a parameter estimator(410). The purge model unit calculates the estimation current of the solar array by using solar irradiance of a solar irradiance sensor(200) and the output voltage and current of the solar array. The MPP calculator outputs the voltage of the MPP by using the output voltage of the solar array and the output of the purge model unit. A parameter estimator updates the coefficient of a purge model.
