The element (10) has circumferentially closed hollow chamber profiles (20-34) running transverse to an extension direction of longitudinal sections (12-18) that are selectively deformed with an accident-related force application by energy absorption. Wall region of the longitudinal sections is attached in front or behind the hollow chamber profiles in the extension direction. The chamber profiles are formed symmetrical to a central axis in a neutral fiber running in longitudinal direction of the longitudinal section.
