The method involves activating aerodynamic actuators (100) based on rolling characteristics e.g. speed, of a motor vehicle (1), where the rolling characteristics include characteristic parameters of air flow in which the vehicle is moved. The characteristic parameters of the air flow are determined by using a longitudinal speed information of the vehicle and air pressure information on a body of the vehicle. The actuators are deactivated when the speed of the vehicle is less than threshold, where the threshold varies based on the characteristic parameters of air flow. An independent claim is also included for a system for controlling a set of actuators modifying aerodynamic characteristics of motor vehicle, comprising hardware and/or software units.
