The method involves manually detecting a defect of a painter part in a defect-detecting position of the painter part in a testing position. Defect-detecting position data is estimated, and condition of the painted part is displayed based on the estimated defect-detecting position data. The manually detected defect of the painted part in the testing position is ground and polished based on the estimated defect-detecting position data. An independent claim is also included for a system for executing a method for automatic grinding and polishing a painted part, comprising a digitalizing device.
