The device (1) has lifting bodies (2) fastened to a rotatably supported transport device (3) with an upper turning point (4) and a lower turning point. The lifting bodies at the upper turning point and the lower turning point are filled with liquid i.e. water, and gas i.e. compressed air, at pressure, respectively. The lifting bodies comprise a lockable inlet and a lockable outlet, where a check valve is arranged at the outlet. A connection line for the gas is arranged between the upper turning point and the lower turning point. An independent claim is also included for a method for utilizing lift energy of lifting bodies for driving an alternating current (AC) generator.
