The method involves dividing product into individual components for testing. The components are evaluated in terms of testability by a test unit in different test steps, and the components are provided with a weighting factor in dependence upon the evaluation. The weighting factors of the components are combined after completion of the evaluation of the components, and a measure for testing depth of the product is represented. The test steps are evaluated for the possibility of testing for each component.
