The device has a sensor electrode (E1) arranged at a hand-held device (HG). The sensor electrode is arrived in an observation region of a capacitive sensor device while gripping the hand-held device so as to change capacitance (C1) between the sensor electrode and mass potential of an evaluation device (A) i.e. microcontroller. The evaluation device detects the capacitance between the sensor electrode and the mass potential of the evaluation device and deflects gripping of the hand-held device by the hand based on the detected capacitance. An independent claim is also included for a method for detection of gripping of hand-held device by a hand.
