The method involves determining failure rate of electronic components of an electronic equipment under an effect of voltage condition applied to the components and at average temperature reached during utilization of the equipment. A self-heating value of the components subjected to the voltage condition and predetermined temperature is determined. Evolution of the failure rate of the components is established according to the increase in the temperature. The effect of the evolution of the failure rate of the components is determined on total failure rate of the equipment.
