PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character recognition device for accurately recognizing characters from image data, and avoiding erroneous recognition even when a user dictionary is used.;SOLUTION: A character recognition device 1 includes a recognition means 30 for recognizing characters from image data on the basis of an ordinary dictionary 10a and a user dictionary 10b; a learning character string input means 41 for inputting a character string, which is corrected through an input device after recognition, as a learning character string; a user dictionary registration means 420 for associating a character code with a character pattern corresponding to each character composing the learning character string to register them in the user dictionary 10b; and a learning character string registration means 421 for registering the learning character strings in a learning character string table 10c. The recognition means 30 determines the learning character strings as a recognition result if the character strings which have been subjected to character recognition on the basis of the user dictionary 10b, are the learning character strings, and recognizes the characters on the basis of the ordinary dictionary 10a if the recognized character strings are not the learning character strings.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
