METHOD FOR PRESERVING THE PACIFIC OYSTER CRASSOSTREA GIGAS (TH.) GROWN IN CAGES AGAINST GRAZING BY THE GASTROPOD MOLLUSK VEINED RAPA WHELK RAPANA VENOSA (VAL.)

A method for preserving the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas (Th.) grown in cages against grazing by the gastropod mollusk veined rapa whelk Rapana venosa (Val.) comprises treating with a solution of acetic acid. At the end of September beginning of October the cages with the oysters and the veined rapa whelk settled therein are taken out of sea water, merged for 1 min into the solution of acetic acid, a concentration of which is 0.1 0.25%, after what, if the sizes of an oyster spat coincide with the sizes of the veined rapa whelk, each tier of the cage is additionally poured with table salt in an equivalent of salt (NaCl) per of the area and kept for 2 hours 45 min or with sodium carbonate (NaCO) in an equivalent of carbonate per of the area and kept for 6 hrs 30 min.
