The invention relates to an arrangement (10) and to a method for determining interference fringe distances (d) in order to calibrate laser Doppler velocimeters for optical velocity measurements, wherein the laser Doppler velocimeter comprises at least one laser, which is used to form an interference fringe system (5) having interference fringe distances (d) by means of two merged laser beams (3, 4), wherein the arrangement (10) at least comprises: a mechanical translation unit (14), which comprises at least one linear positioner (141) and a sensor (142) for measuring positions (x) of the translation unit (14), a motor (13), which is connected to the translation unit (14), a rotary disk (12), which is provided with a specified object (111) and which is connected to the motor (13) and which is rotated at a set constant angular velocity (ω) by the motor (13) so that the object (11) can be moved through the interference fringe system (5), a detector (18) for receiving the scattered light of the specified object (111) guided through the interference fringe system, and an evaluating unit (17) connected to the detector (18).
