PURPOSE: A multi-axis machine having a contact-type landmark detection mechanism is provided to utilize a coordinate recognition and position control functions because a contact-type probe is mounted instead of a machining tool.;CONSTITUTION: A multi-axis machine having a contact-type landmark detection mechanism(10) comprises a base(100), a fixing stand(200), a moving stand, a coordinate recognition unit, and an interface member. The fixing stand is fixed in a predetermined position. The fixing stand comprises a machining tool(222) and machining unit(220). The fixing stand translationally moves in a direction of a Y-axis for a plane of the base. A workpiece fixing tool(316) is fixed to the moving stand and translationally moves on an X-Z plane of the base and/or rotates around at least one of X/Y/Z axes. The coordinate recognition unit recognizes relative coordinates or absolute coordinates of the workpiece fixing tool.
