The component (1) has a linear voltage regulator (2) i.e. longitudinal controller, for supplying output voltage (Ua) of a defined level for a set of loads (3a, 3b) to an input of the component, based on a variable input voltage (Ue) of the component. The component enables selective load-free switching of a load output (8) for the loads, in response to detected overvoltage at an input (2a) of the voltage regulator. A switch is selectively turned off upon detection of the overvoltage load output. A signal path (6) is connected with an input trigger device (7).
