The device has an inflatable airbag (2) automatically unfolded and positioned on an outer side of a vehicle (1) over portions of a windscreen (4) and/or over regions of a car body (5) adjacent to the windscreen, during a crash. The airbag comprises an outflow opening (6), where gas filled in the airbag is released through the outflow opening when the airbag is completely deployed. The outflow opening is provided with a valve (7) to open/close the outflow opening, where the outflow opening is sealed with a tearing seam before deployment of the airbag.
