Process for preparing inorganic/organic composite particles (I) comprising a polymer core including an inorganic material and polymer chains attached to the core, comprises: (a) contacting, in a liquid medium (M), an inorganic precursor (P), and organic polymers (E) comprising crosslinked and/or branched polymer containing R groups that form strong bonds with the inorganic precursor, as a central portion, and polymer chains linked covalently to the central portion; and (b) converting the inorganic precursor that is migrated to the central portion of the inorganic material. Process for preparing inorganic/organic composite particles comprising a polymer core including an inorganic material and polymer chains attached to the core, comprises: (a) contacting, in a liquid medium (M), an inorganic precursor (P), that is dissolved or dispersed in the liquid medium (M), and organic polymers (E) comprising crosslinked and/or branched polymer containing R groups that form strong bonds with the inorganic precursor, as a central portion, and polymer chains linked covalently to the central portion, to obtain a migration of at least part of the inorganic precursor at the R groups carried by the central portion of the polymers (E); and (b) converting the inorganic precursor that is migrated to the central portion of the inorganic material, if step (a) does not lead to the formation of mineral material sought in the central portion of the polymer species (E). An independent claim is included for the inorganic/organic composite particles obtained by the process.
