METHOD FOR INVERSION OF VERTICAL SEISMIC PROFILE DATA (VSP) DATA IN A OIL FIELD WITH A WELL PENETRATED UNDERGROUND, VERTICAL PERFORMANCE SEISMIC DATA, VESSEL PROFILE COMPUTER READY. Method for reversing seismic data from vertical seismic profile (VSP) data in an oil field. The method includes obtaining a model of the initial velocity of the underground formation that includes the acoustic wave propagation velocities near the well; determining an acquisition geometry for obtaining the VSP data, the acquisition geometry comprising a plurality of receiver locations within the well and a source positioning; perform a seismic survey to obtain VSP data based on acquisition geometry; analyze the direct incoming signals from the VSP data to generate transit time data for wave propagation from the source location to the plurality of receiver locations; modify the initial velocity model to generate an updated velocity model by performing a tomographic inversion of transit time data; generate an elastic model of the underground formation by forming the seismic data inversion of the VSP data using the model.
