PURPOSE: A navigation device guiding a redundant path on a travelling route and a method thereof are provided to arrive to the destination safely, rapidly, comfortably as a driver selects the travelling route if safety is not threatened.;CONSTITUTION: A navigation device guiding a redundant path on a travelling route comprises an input unit(110), a map database(120), a GPS receiver(130), a map matching unit(140), a route search and control unit(150), a redundant path confirming unit(160), a redundant path determining unit(170), and a redundant path expansion processing unit(180). A driver input a destination so that the navigation device can search a route. The map matching unit overlaps the input through the input unit, the data of map DB, and a current location of the GPS receiver, thereby displaying the travelling route.
