METHOD FOR CONTEXT BASED SAMPLE ADAPTIVE OFFSET FILTER DIRECTION ESTIMATION AND ADAPTIVE SELECTION IN A VIDEO AND A DEVICE THEREOF FOR SUPPLYING IMPROVED IMAGE QUALITY BY IMPROVING CODING EFFICIENCY
PURPOSE: A method for context based SAO(Sample Adaptive Offset) filter direction estimation and adaptive selection in a video and a device thereof are provided to adaptively select a filter direction by considering a detailed edge direction corresponding to a feature of a current decoding object image, thereby improving subjective and objective image quality.;CONSTITUTION: A context based filter selection parameter extraction unit(503) brings parameter information for a restored image and finds an edge direction. A filter direction determination unit(504) determines an SAO filter direction in a group for a current block or an area corresponding to kinds and a value of context which is parsed from an entropy decoding unit(501) and image feature information extracted in the context based filter selection parameter extraction unit.
